I picked up the first Dead Rising not knowing what it was, just looking for something to pass the time - and hoped maybe I would get lucky and find a good game. I was pleasantly surprised at what I had stumbled across. After I got through the intro and got into the game, it took a little time to get the hang of it. After that I was a zombie killing fool!
You never ran out of zombies to kill and ways to kill them. Just about anything you could think of can be used as a weapon. From giant teddy bears to chainsaws and everything in between.
The missions in the game were fun too. You need to survive 72 hours trapped in a mall with an unending supply of zombies. After 72 hours your ride comes to take you away. You do have to complete the primary objectives to progress in the game in order to get to roam freely. Secondary objectives are optional. Which is cool!
Dead Rising 2 takes place some time after the first installment. You play as Chuck Greene, a daredevil motocross who has traveled to Fortune City to compete in a gameshow “Terror is Reality” that dares you to survive zombie-filled environments for the entertainment of TV. Chuck’s reason to compete is that his daughter has been bitten by a Zombie and needs a daily dose of Zombrex (the only drug of its kind) to prevent her from turning. While in Fortune City, a zombie outbreak happens and once again you have to survive another 72 hours. Other then fighting off zombies you are trying to find whats behind the zombie outbreak, saving survivors and finding the Zombrex needed for your daughter.
Dead Rising 2 provides even more zombies then the first, and more items that can be used as weapons. Combine the two items to come up with yet another zombie killer. Unlock combo cards that show the items that work the best together, earn Prestige Points as you kill zombies with your newly created items, play with a friend to help you along with your zombie fest, and ‘Terror is Reality’ mode lets four players fight in gladiator-type show that puts the players against zombies.

With the collector’s edition you get: The game, a Blue-Ray disk with a 24 minute “Making of” featurette(the 360 edition gets a 83 minute “Zombrex Dead Rising Sun” motion picture). You also get, a steel book case, a Zombrex “Syringe” pen, 25 page Zombrex “Prescription” notepad, Zombrex “Safty” card, Zombrex “Prospectus” Sales Brochure. Also included is a Dead Rising 2 Hardback Art book.
Would I recommend Dead Rising 2? If your looking for an in-depth, complicated game then I would say No. But if you like Lots of blood, Tons of hack and slash and comical ways to kill zombies? Then I would have to say definitely, Yes. I plan on spending may hours coming up with new and exciting ways to kill Zombies.
