VIP of the Week: Karl Schreck, Candidate for Sheriff

Last week, you read about Rick Duncan, one of the two excellent Candidates for Sheriff.  This week we’ll focus on the other top-notch candidate for Sheriff, Mr. Karl Schreck.

As you can see from the video below, Mr. Schreck is a well-rounded person who is both extremely bright and very committed to furthering the community.  Very likable and easy to talk to, he has had a calling to be in law enforcement since he was a young child.

With humor twinkling in his eyes, he brought out anecdotes that spoke of a kind, but strong and hard-working person who sees the good and the bad in life, and takes it all with a grain of salt.  I was particularly impressed that, even running for office, he still gave credit where credit was due, citing (no pun intended!) stories of good things he’s been a part of, and stories that his team has been a part of.  He spoke with genuine fondness and appreciation of the current Sheriff, and those who came before him. He even told an anecdote of a fellow in law enforcement, a Mr. Scott Swanson, who happily helped an elderly lady in the neighborhood change a lightbulb that went out, just to make her feel safer!

Mr. Schreck believes in the people he works with, and seems happy to have them share the limelight – but don’t mistake that for shy!  “I’m not bashful – at all!” he says, also adding that he’s seen a lot of things during his time in law enforcement.  Another anecdote he tells is of walking door to door meeting members of the community and handling out material on the election.  One potential voter said, “Well, tell me what’s wrong with the other guy!” and Mr. Schreck and his team-member refused to answer that, saying instead, “We will not say anything bad about our challenger. What we will talk about are my own skills and merits for this position.” “This is a campaign with integrity, ” he tells me.

Hard-working, politically-savvy, intelligent and kind – Mr. Schreck is a real guy with a strong commitment to this office.    Take a look at the video, and decide for yourself!
