Trials We Face

We all go through life battling different situations that can sometimes be what we don’t want them to be. These are the trials we face in our lives. We should always expect to have some sort of trial to deal with. There are different types of trials that we face. Just because we are Christian, doesn’t mean we are excluded from trials of life! This is how God teaches us. Thus, we should be joyful for these trials that come our way.

There are different trials that we face in life. Some are emotional, some are work related, some are physical, some are unexpected, some are resulting from our Christian belief, and others are the ones we make for ourselves. Trials are not alike. Consider them being like colored yarn. God is the weaver and naturally God makes the most beautiful rugs. The yarn is our experiences of life and the colors is what makes the trials different.  The final product?? Gods beautiful rug that can be used for His Glory.

We should evaluate the trials that we face. Live for the things that matter the most to us. We hold values that we learned though out our life, these values are used in our evaluation of the trial. Here some rule of thumb. If we value comfort more than character, then the trials will upset us. If we value physical and material more than spiritual, then the trial isn’t a joyful one. If we live more for the present and not the future, then the trials will make us bitter and nothing is learned.

When we face our trials, we should look at the trial through the eyes of our faith. Our outlook determines outcome. If we begin with joy, the trial will end in joy. That sounds easy, right? Well, unfortunately Satan has different plans for us. Satan uses these trials to tear us down, to give us the feeling of fear, worry, keeping our thoughts on the trial instead of God.

God considers our Faith to be precious. We really have little Faith and tend to take matters in our own hands to get over the trial. God has purpose for the trials. The trials work for us believers because we demonstrate that our little faith is genuine and that we do trust God to get us through the trial.

We can also consider the trials we face as our walking the road of growth. God wants us to grow, to be mature, to trust and obey Him. This doesn’t come to us by reading, prayer, or sermons. God wants us to face our trials with a positive attitude so that we can develop patience and character in our lives. We are often impatient and want those wonderful blessing that God has without growing.

God leaves it up to us whether we want to build character or not. This is what a gentleman does! He will not push, prod, pull or drag us again our wills. If we resist Him, then He will just leave us be and let us get into the trouble that comes with not listening to Him. When we submit to Him, then God can accomplish His work through us. God wants us to be mature. As we watch our own kids grow, we tend to shelter them from those life dangers. As Christians, we also make that mistake, we shelter ourselves from those trials. This results in us not growing up. Then we wonder why we keep experiencing the same trial over and over again. Sometimes God will ask us the question. Which do you love more: “This” or Me. A lot of times we don’t hear the question and just go about with the “This” thing. If we would hear Gods question, we may stop and think “what am I doing”??

When trials do make it to us, we should pray for the wisdom to do the right thing. Wisdom and knowledge go together. Knowledge gives us the ability to take things apart and put them together again. Wisdom gives us the ability to use the knowledge in a right way. The wisdom we get through prayer will allow us not to waste the opportunities that God gives us to mature. This will give us the circumstances to use the trial for your own good and for Gods Glory. When you feel buried, shake off the dirt and take a step up. Never give up because God wants you to prove yourself. God wants to know that you can handle those trials. God wants you to grow.
